Hey,
It is very hard to understand why armies are still allowed to stack abilities and spells effects. I have quite some respect for Kael and Brad, so does it means they are happy with how things works? I have trouble accepting that honestly. Can one of them step in and say this is either how they believe things should be, or will they look at that rapidly and amend the situation?
What I'm talking about, some can say? For example Tireless march (+1 move spell), shield wall (+3 defense), training (+x% of experience) are all applying to all units of a stack plus you can have several heroes or henchmen with these effects, and they will all functions.
Let's take a sovereign and 4 henchmen. That's +5 move for example in the case of tireless march. And the problem is not only about Altar and their henchmen, group some heroes together (they will share experience admittedly) and you are again in the exploitative realm.
What's the interest, except in trying to show you can kill insane AI in y turns, to have such mechanisms? It would be so much better if, for a given army, a spell or ability can only apply once, and that's it!
Plus I believe this way of doing is reducing the possibility of adding new spells / abilities. As everything can be added-up, we all know that designing new spells or abilities that affect the whole stack (say +5 accuracy or +1 HP/level for the whole army) can't be done, because if you start to pile them up (several heroes or henchmen in same stack) then your fine and original new spell become overpowered. And so you don't design that.
Stacking effects are thus not only very easy to exploit, in the current game format, but they force people to limit themselves in modding (poorer design).
