Will my stardock key for FE work on Steam?

Hi! I was just wondering if the FE key I have from the Stardock site will work with Steam? I'd really prefer to play it on that platform since all my games are there.

As I understand, you require a Steam key to play FE on steam.

Unfortunately it makes sense for them not to give out steam keys to everyone who owns FE through Stardock. There's no way to guarantee that we actually use the key, instead of selling it to someone else or giving it away.

On the other hand, we could have Stardock invalidate our Stardockian key and give us a Steam key. So if we choose to switch, the old key no longer works. The real problem would be needing to figure out the cost of switching over. If it is a small fee, some people might want to pay it to switch over. I prefer getting my Elemental straight from the source. No need to steam it.

It's really a question about patching, because you can always add a non-steam game through steam. Stardock is pretty good right now about announcing there is a new patch with an e-mail. I don't know abou their software, but I know it does do updates through it. Not sure how automatically.
