I have a quad-core Q6600 rig with nVidia 8800 GTS, 2GB RAM running WinXP. Yeah, I know it's an old rig and old OS, but I do go back to 10 years old titles a lot. Anyway, this game leaks memory badly. I guess this might be related to XP as I don't see a lot of complaints about memory leak on the forum post. Presumably, people have moved on to Win7, so no problem on that front. The game starts with memory footprint of about 140MB at a fresh start but would grow to eat up 1GB after maybe 10 or so turns. After which point, crashes are inevitable. Another peculiarity is that, in about 1 out of 5 exits, the game doesn't clean itself up properly. The Fallen Enchantress process continues to run even after the application has been terminated. I have to terminate the process manually.
Performance-wise, this is getting much more playable than earlier version I tried (0.86), aside from the memory leak problem on XP. I guess, technically speaking, the game is quasi-playable on XP as long as the player remembers to terminate the game and the corresponding process every 10 or so turns. This makes the exit confirmation message about just one turn ironic if nothing else.
