World Map View

Good Morning

So, not too much backstory for me is needed, but I will give a little as this is my first post in this forum. Loved playing MOM during those intial 4x days of Civ 1, MOM, and Colonizations. Kept my eye on a future MOM2, only to be disappointed time and time again. Looked at purchasing Elemental: War of Magic, but didn't because of all the bugs and problems....and now eagerly await the release of Elemental: Fallen Enchantress.

Did notice something while comparing reviews though: WoM has a WAY BETTER worldmap view compared to the beta FE worldmap view. I truly hope the developers know this and plan to at the very least give the option of using the better view in the new game rather than that 'digital' colored map. The original had a SOLID 'parchment' feel to it...like that of Lord of the Rings or the recent Game of Thrones intro. It's a fantasy world! I say it should be enhanced as such.

So, now I don't know if the developers read this, and if not, how to get this message to them. So if anyone else reads this and happens to agree with me, please pass the message along to someone who can make a difference and add me as a +1 behind your arguement.

I am VERY much looking forward to the release of the game...trying not to cave and obtain the beta in the plan of enjoying the game as it was meant to be right from the start.

Naturally, comments and opinions always welcome.

Are you referring specifically to the cloth map view?

It was a necessary tool in WoM. In FE I find I don't use the cloth map nearly as much, because the 3D graphics are so much better.

The changes I do notice in the cloth map of FE are only positive ones, as far as I'm concerned.

The cloth map is most likely what I refer to. "zoom out till you can't and that's what I'm talking about".

I wasn't saying that WOM had better functionality that's FE when it came to the cloth map; only that WOM's cloth map was WAY more visually appealing than FE's.

If Stardock wants to go 'all out' with this game, which I believe they do, then it is my opinion that they took a small step backwards with this particular part of the game. Overall, I don't believe it will impact the overall fuction of the game...just a bit of the experiance. The cloth map will just be there for zoom-out zoom-in funciton instead of 'living' the full potential seen in your empire/kingdom.

I totally recommend having the option to pick which view the player wants to see when looking at the cloth map, OR have a preset MOD to be enabled, overwriting how the cloth map appears.

Maybe it's too much for them to worry about...there are obviously bigger glitches and bugs. But I just thought I'd toss this out there since I REALLY liked what they did with the WOM cloth map.

There is a slider in the options menu that can change the way the Cloth Map looks. You can also mod the tint of it with a simple mod. I think what you want is to decrease the color intensity so that it looks more like an old map instead of a new one. That is in the main options menu at the top-middle.

Like I mentioned above....didn't actually play FE yet...but am religiously awaiting its release.

I'm trying not to spoil the game by playing it to death with the beta....
