I have to say I am almost done with my first game and that is saying a lot since I never finished Elemental. Having said that I have a list, A LONG LIST, of things I would like to point out or see some changes to.
This post is not for those of faint of heart at having to read more then 10 lines of text.
1. After observing unit creation and usage I have a suggestion.
a. Command/or General Unit.
a1. It would be a sub-champion with enough elite troops (equipped on current tech level).
a2. This unit would be able to lead armies thus eliminating the need for Champions
as it stands now. I know you can create armies without them but that just seems wrong.
a3. Each unit would be considered to be run by a Lieutenant or Sergeant (not necessary to show icon)
but unable to group with other units without a Command/General Unit or Champion.
a4. This system could be used to implement ships, ie Admirals and Fleet units. I miss the ships. lol.
a5. I like the idea that exp is seriously hampered by the number of champions in a group, ie forcing
single or two champions, preventing the stack of doom. Congrats here on that.
b. Diplomacy.
b1. We shouldn't have to re-enter the page after each transaction. It gets frustrating to have to click empire, foreign affairs etc.
c. Trade.
c1. It seems a bit limited in is its scope. Maybe have each tile / or city produce an unique trade item.
This would allow you to have city buildings or tiles that gave a unique trade option.
c2. As it is now, Metal, Horse, Crystal are usually worth nothing or so Overvalued that you can't realistically make a trade.
The NPCs perceived value of an item is seriously over done. ie, 50 units of crystal when they have 3000 has a
value of say 6000 gold. Really? I never make that deal even if I need it. Or conversely if I try to sell 50 units of
crystal (or whatever) it has no value whatsoever even if they NPC has none, or if I am really lucky a 1 to 1 gold value.
d. Maps.
d1. As it stands now the maps are way way to small even on Large. The large map to me seems like a small or medium.
d2. make them larger with more water, if you put ships back in, or no water, ie continents with just rivers.
d3. Why don't sea tiles provide any food or value or resources?
e. Taxes.
e1. They are just plan messed up. The way it influence the game seems strange.
e2. Many times my taxes auto sets a low and if it was on medium I would get more gold but only have a minus of 2%
penalty. There just isn't enough difference to make me want it low.
e3. Maybe make a form of government that could effect taxes, Ie, Monarchy for Good guys and Dictatorship for Fallen.
f. Units.
f1. They are all just generic. Why have different units when there is no real bonus for it.
f2. my scouts with full plate on still get all their bonuses. My Magi can wear full plate and still sling firebolts.
Maybe make scout skill can only wear light armor for fast/silent moving. ie faster reaction or placement on battle map.
Magi unable to use spells while in anything other then robes or leather.
f3. Specialized units. Why can't spear units use shields? Don't say because the spear takes two hands. (weak argument).
Phalanx units use spear and shield.
f4. Lancers. Mounted spear men.
f5. I would just like to see some penalties and bonuses for making smart unit development.
g. Outposts.
g1. Why can't we dismantle or destroy outpost? We built them after all.
g2. make outposts three tiered.
g2a. First tier Wooden Tower with 1 lightly armed unit inherent to the structure like militia are to towns.
only one square radius around it allowed.
g2b. Second tier Stone Tower with 1 light, 1 medium armed units and 2 square radius influence and
zoc (no passing for NPC, Monsters without combat) within 1 tile radius of the tower.
g2c. Third Tier would be Stone Keep with 3 tile radius control with 1 tile ZOC and 1 light, 1 medium and 1 heavy defenders
This keep could then bestow a title which you can give to your champion for added bonuses.
h. Diplomacy.
h1. There should be an option to ask or cede tiles to another player. ie, I want those tiles back that your city took from my
Keep when you founded it to near my territory.
i. Monsters/Quests.
i1. Just not enough of them period and they are limited in their variety.
j. General Errors I have found.
j1. Onyx Throne doesn't show up when you attempt to make it, thus you have no idea it is a 4X4 structure.
j2. AI is still random it is functioning. To many times I see them build up huge armies and are bottle necking at a choke point
unable to see they can go around it. Or they build so many that their entire area is packed wall to wall with them.
This is just a beginning of my list but for now it will be sufficient. I hope any or all of it is helpful to the further development of this game.
I am greatly pleased by what I am seeing so far and my faith in your company is slowly being restored. Continue the good work and I may even pay
for this game even though I get it for free.
