I have started at least a hundred games looking for that, 5-5, 5-4, 5-3, 4-4, ratio of grain to material. It was stated that you want the highest possible material for your first city as it is important to its growth and building power. The best I have seen was 4 grain, 3 Materials and that was rare.
Does anyone now the HTML file location for these variables? I would like to change them to more randomly give me at least a chance for a 5-5, 5-4, 4-5, or even a 4-4 ratio.
I have modded most of the other functions to at least give me a greater chance for resources to spawn world wide. They were just to sparse.
Also, has anyone else noticed that you can found one, maybe two, cities then the surrounding terrain has no grain-material ratio for expansion.
Most games I get a city on a 5-2 tile, and then have to use outposts to get any resources. I am unable to find another place to start another city that isn't 15 or more tiles away and usually in the enemies territory whom, more times then not, have colonized there. This is on a LARGE map with TEMPERATE settings.
It seems the AI can have 4-5 cities but I usually end up with 1-2.
Any input here would be helpful, especially the location for those variables.
