I have been playing 1.39 beta this weekend.
Aside from the broken auto next unit (which Frogboy says he is trying to fix), the game has been quite fun so far!
What i like most is the way city development has intensified and it is a much bigger part of the game now! But i am playing my own map with plenty of resources..... i can imagine a random map would have me tearing my hair out over food most of the time!!! So i would probably be wanting to hit the food development tech and construction as hard as possible right from day1 !!
I did have a couple of laughs in my new game..... the funniest thing to see was a creature rated at 15 defeating my soverigns spouse (brellut) rated 56 on auto calc! Then after the battle i saw brellut fall off his horse and his horse returned to the previous square. Brellut appeared to be kneelng under the creature!! Then when i selected the bare horse, brellut was there, waiting for orders. So i attaked the creature again manually and defeated it. Naturally i reloaded to a previous save after that and killed the creature manually.
I also had a couple of pathfinding booboos which were more bizarre than anything i have ever seen before.... I commanded a city garrison (with about 8 movement points) to move south east out of it's city to an adjacent square ready to attack an enemy.... It then ran the full eight squares due east away from the actual square i had chosen!! my jaw dropped,,, and amazingly, there were no mountains around!!!!
Ahhh, it's all fun, enjoying it immensely (side from broken auto next unit)
