Something along those lines. I freely admit to not being a Modder so it would need to be balanced. But yeah your on the right track of what I am thinking. A set amount of resistance after all of the Shield upgrades and a bonus when in culture and/or Shield Projection sphere.

And before the PM Fanboys go ape-poop crazy, let's remember, I am advocating resistance not straight blocking like on the Kol Adaptive Shield. This would merely lower the the missile bypass chance meaning the missile will hit shields instead of hull. The Kol actually nullifies a portion of all PM shot at it with its super shield turned on.

As for your point, I think you are correct. We would definitely need to play around with the numbers for balance. I think at end game PM should still be skipping shields about 20% of the time.

I think the solution would be to remove the Culture & SP bonus and front load the PM resistance into the beginning levels of shield research. Not as consistent from a lore standpoint but this could be seen as maybe a "hard physics" limit to PM resistance. I would suggest a 10% reduction as the net effect after all upgrades with the majority of this effect being front loaded as its purpose is to avert the early game Kanrak spam that makes playing Advent vs Vasari near suicide in competitive MP. This would leave PM still with a 20 % bypass after all upgrades are maxed making them still a powerful late game weapon but where Advent have a chance to field stronger vessels and upgrade armor making for a more even fight.

I think it would be better to put all the PM block on the guardian. That way the resistance not always applied and it gives the Vasari commanders an incentive to strategically destroy or disable the guardians. Which even for the Advent may be a good thing as it might keep your capitalships from getting focus fired. PM resistance from Techs are just a bit too blunt and would be overpowered IMO.

I would prefer that as well but I fear this will do nothing to help Advent in early game which is really where they have the most difficulty countering the Kanrak Rush.

If the Capitals were buffed with some natural PM Resistance to start with and/or increases to armor/hull, then that might be enough to float Advent until the PM resistant Shield Projection came into play. Again I favor a direct PM Resistance as this helps balance Vas vs Advent while maintaining balance of TEC vs Advent.

Advent are weak versus Vasari due to PM's.  Heck, it's a slaughter.  Advent die early on two both TEC and Vasari.  Why are we bothering just buffing them against Vasari?

If we buff capitals in such a way to defeat the TEC rush via hard stats (armor, hull, DPS, etc), then the threat of early TEC is slightly mitigated as is the threat of early Vasari.  Then, put PM resistance on Guardians for later in the game.  That's what I'm saying.
