I downloaded and started using the following mods.
- Keneta's Updated Weapons (Still can't download the latest one but I had an older version)
- Impnic's Adventure Content Pack
- HaevenFall's Expanded Factions
- HavenFall's AI Tweaks
I set the game on unstoppable (in AI tweaks) and started playing. I have to say that the game is MUCH harder when on this difficulty. The extra quests from ACP are nice. I really enjoy the random weapon creator, a much needed feature to vanilla elemental. The expanded factions are all cool. Besides looking differently, the factions are much more contrasting than those in vanilla elemental. Finally the weapon's mod adds abilities to weapons that even the AI uses (although sometimes not in a particularly intelligent way).
While playing with these mods in 1.19n i noticed a few things
- Sovereign creation now lets you inspect spell books before selecting them (nice).
- The starting techs have been rebalanced (cost 4 instead of 2 and now instant warstaff any longer).
- The archers in tactical try to move away form melee troops (haven't seen this before).
- In tactical, the AI will focus attacks more often (although each turn the potential target may change).
- In tactical, the AI will no longer chase after the "best"target (lowest armored target).
Now I'm fairly certain Haevenfall's AI tweak didn't affect tactical (could be wrong).
I noticed a few things while defending my city
- The AI will gradually increase the number of soldiers in their armies. As in a stack of 1, 2, 4 etc)
- The AI will attack with 2 stacks in succession rather than 1 giant stack.
- The AI still isn't designing units with high armor.
- Haven't seen cavalry or archers yet (only turn 121 so its still early).
- The AI will design two units with the same stats but have different names (possible that a differn't cloak was used but I couldn't tell)
- The AI will have different portraits for the same units (is it possibly designing the same "guardian" 20 times?)
Anyway I just wanted to these mods are great (the game is actually pretty hard on unstoppable) and wanted to point out a few things that didn't make it into the patch notes.
