both great characters, I just feel like the depth of Jowy has always stood out to me. I am especially fond of characters that aren't cookie cutter and adhere to personal morality or make tough realistic decision. Esp when they are realistically flawed, nothing is better to me than a game (or any story telling) where I have moments where I'm not sure if I'm doing the right thing or if the 'bad guy' is really bad.
Btw Kenata, check out a picture of part of my desk (I am aware my camera sucks
Hell ya Chrono Trigger Action Figures!
As for your point about good story telling, I completely agree that putting in moments of moral ambiguity are really important for a story to really touch the audience. This can be even more intriguing when the characters also have a personal code of ethics which comes into direct conflict with the morally ambiguous events. Yet, to me, I like the idea of voiceless RPG heroes, like Crono, where it is the player's own morality and personal convictions which are challenged.
yea I agree, just I want both in my game sometimes... also I'm not always a fan of the voiceless you when you cant control their actions in a meaningful way. I the first two Suikoden games though I felt quite a connection to my character, his actions and the trials he went through.
The story telling points are why some of my favorite TV shows of all time are the new BSG and The Wire. Most of the characters on those shows are deep and never defined in moral extremes.
Oh and its not just Chrono Trigger figures, that's a FF6 magitek armor with Celes in it, plus I have 10 or so other FF and Chrono Trigger figures adorning the desk
Along some other assorted sweet figs, best part of working at a game company is the sweet nerdorabilia you get to show off
