Is it possible to create a faction with specific leaders?

We already have a faction creator, and we have a decent leader creator. But can we put our custom leader as the leader for our custom faction? For example, let's say I created a faction called Hyrule (from the Legend of Zelda video games). I also created a leader called Zelda. When I set Hyrule as an opponent, can I somehow make sure Zelda is their leader?

In game? No. Outside of it? Mess with the XML for the faction and assign the desired to Sovereign to the faction. Not complex but along the lines of:

  1. The XML of the Sovereign (Units folder) should have an initial line like: <UnitType InternalName="DS_Veralux_Elena">
  2. And you would need to add to the faction XML (Race folder) a line saying something like: <SovereignUnitType>DS_Veralux_Elena</SovereignUnitType> (or replace the content of the existing  <SovereignUnitType> tag with the content of the InternalName in the other file).

Yes, an in game app to do this would be sweet. No doubt.

There also seems to lack a Leader Editor. There is only create, delete, and save, from what I can see unless its hidden in a menu somewhere. Its kinda of annoying that the leader creator can only be accessed several steps into the new game menu instead of easily accessible like the other editors. Additionally it seems like it doesn't actually save your faction history text, pretty annoying that when you write several paragraphs of it.

Actually, if you start a game as Hyrule and you have Zelda as a leader and play and save.  Then you play a game with the AI as Hyrule, they will choose Zelda as the default leader every time.  I've done this and it worked 100% of the time on the few nations I could get to show up as usable AI opponents.

Interesting. Thanks, Lord Xia! It would be so much easier if we could create a faction and simply select the default leader there, though- Maybe make a leader and select his/her faction, too. Still, if it works as Lord Xia said, it's the second best thing.

Just curious for those of us that are insane enough to actually try experimenting at this stage. If you make a Human leader and use a Fallen faction or vice versa are you not able to use any of the armor because its 'large' or some such?

If you use a large Fallen Sov and make a Kingdom faction, you can't use the armor, it sucks.  But, you can use humans sovs on Empire faction and get the armor.
