Neutral Factions and the shops

I haven't seen any neutral factions in any of my recent games.

 

Are they still in and (primarily) are the items they have in their shops worth the effort?

There is only one neutral faction now, and in the beta they sold daggers and longswords.  So I was able to give my champions longswords long before I researched it, so I found it useful.

I haven't heard anything about Neutrals in the post 1.1 world.

What are Stardock's plans?

Like many others have stated, I would like to see the cities left behind when a ruler dies become neutral or rally to a descendant.

Or have cities that are cut off from their main empire revert to neutral.
