Thre are a few magic items and CON, but really, there isn't any way. I mean, if you really try hard, your hero might have 40 hp, and at the end of the game, I was fighting stacks that had close to 1000. So your heroes are just for casting spells at that point and hoping they dont ever get hit. Sucks, I know. I wish they wouldnt have soldiers increase in HP so much and heroes so little.

You could try the "Abilities and Traits Mod". It increases the base HP of ALL heroes (not units) by a certain amount based on the class (ie. warriors get more then merchants). Also, some classes have HP multipliers. I think it works pretty well as your heroes can stand up to wolves and base units at the beginning and medium. I believe you'll probably still have problems late game against squads and armies but that'll probably be how it is unless you want super-powered heroes.

There are some other game tweaks you can apply such as more points for leveling but adding more HP to CON seems to increase EVERYONE'S HP by too much.

All you need to do is cast the "protect" spell on your champion & he's immune to magic. Beef up his defense & you only have to worry about enemy archers & catapults later in the game. Attack first and you don't even have to worry about them as you should be able to kill them easily.

HPs aren't that important. If you take proper defensive action, the AI should never be able to attack you.
