<Text>Food is the most important resource when expanding your Kingdom or Empire. Once a food resource (Fertile Land, Wild Wheat, etc.) falls within your area of influence, select it and build a farm on it to gain its bounty.</Text>

<Text>Few things rival a strong suit of armor and a well tempered blade during times of war. As you explore the wastes, make note of the Metal Ore deposits that dot the land. Mining these will allow you to outfit your armies in the finest equipment available.</Text>

<Text>Resources gathered outside city walls become prime targets to your enemies and the wandering creatures of the world. Fortify them with soldiers to prevent a disastrous wane in your resource stockpile.</Text>

<Text>Not only can your champions gain levels - so can your settlements! Instead of experience, settlement levels are gained based on their population. There are five different levels, each with escalating benefits and unique buildings to construct.</Text>

<Text>Specialization is important. Resources are linked to a given settlement, so a civic-minded leader will maximize output with special improvements. Granaries, for instance, give a 25% boost to the amount of food harvested.</Text>

<Text>When your Sovereign is within friendly territory, be sure to check the local shop to see what goods are available. Your Item shops will sell any equipment unlocked through the Technology Tree, while Neutral settlements are known to sell mysterious relics from the ages before the Cataclysm.</Text>

<Text>Keep your troop roster updated as new technologies are learned and new equipment unlocked. Better armor, weapons and accessories will keep your forces from becoming dragon-fodder on the battlefield.</Text>

<Text>A Channelers 'Essence' is a multi-purpose stat that plays into several areas of your reign. On the magic side, Essence dictates your max mana, and must actually be sacrificed for some of the permanent high level spells. In battle, Essence can be used to escape a mortal defeat - though this only works in friendly and neutral territory. In the lands of the enemy, prepare for an absolute defeat should your sovereign perish.</Text>

<Text>The base stats on a unit serve as multipliers to whatever equipment is being used. Strength, for instance, factors into anything that effects 'Attack'. Should a warrior have a Strength of 18, equipping a Sword with +6 Attack will actually result in a boost of +11 Attack (1.8STR X 6ATT = 11ATT).</Text>

<Text>Mana is the expendable source of magic for a Channeler. The higher their 'Essence' and 'Mana Regeneration' stats, the more spells that unit will be able to cast.</Text>

<Text>While your sovereign is inherently magical in nature, learning new spells is necessary for their abilities to grow in power. Start learning spells by choosing a leader with the 'Meditative' talent or research up the Magic tech tree to unlock buildings to assist in your enlightenment.</Text>

<Text>The fog that hangs over the world hides many secrets - none more desired than the Elemental Shards. By encompassing a crystal within your territorial control, shrines can be built to reap the magic within, resulting in a damage multiplier to aligned spells, an Essence bonus to your sovereign, as well as unlocking spells of unthinkable might.</Text>

<Text>Spells come in two major disciplines, each with their own benefits. Tactical spells, once mastered, can be used on the battlefield to boost your forces or destroy your foes. Strategic spells are designed to be cast on the main map, targeting settlements, armies, and even molding the landscape to your design.</Text>

<Text>Having trouble raising a battle-ready army? Forget archers and knights - put your focus into the 'Book of Summoning'. Mana can be used to call forth a conjured army, fit to keep your lands safe (or overtake your enemies).</Text>
