Quoting Black-Knight, reply 2This "is\can be" one of the best TBS ever, that's why we are so critical!
yes, but this game is horribly flawed. ive never played any stardock game before and im no fanboy. I just payed money expected a good strategy game. I will be patient but I sure as hell won't thank anyone for one of the worst releases i have seen in 20 years.
At the end of the day, the game still is fun, even with its current quirks. That's huge!
Just for point of reference, 3 games quickly come to mind that shatter all boundaries when it comes to a terrible release:
1. Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six: Lockdown for the PC. I swear it felt like support left the building 40 minutes after it went live. After years of enjoying the Tom Clancy series of games, I realized that UBI Soft decided to drop PC gamers hard without a second thought. I had to take a shower after this one.
2. Soldier of Fortune 3: Payback. I don't even think this game ever left pre-alpha status. Maybe that's why it was only $9.99? Damn, lost money anyway. What the hell was I thinking? Oh that's right, I immensely enjoyed the first 2 games. What a rip off.
3. Hellgate: London. Thank god I didn't subscribe and I knew what I was getting into before picking the game up. I found it on a shelf for like $10, a few months before they shut down - so no sweat off my ass.
This last one was released so badly that it got an urban dictionary entry. Third definition spells it out in detail:

The Elemental release was Heaven sent compared to the above, there is just no comparison. My opinion, of course. I shall never forget those failures.
True, Elemental was released sub par and is not something that is hard for the community to understand, especially since we paid for the game (expecting it to be in finished working order) AND we were not watching game development/thought processes from their perspective.
But please note: The fact that Stardock is working (as we speak, you can practically hear it) very hard to resolve issues and get the game on track speaks volumes for the company AND for the community that has seen unforgivable past actions of other software developers/publishers.
