Elemental currently displays every model a unit group has on one tile on the world map. The models, however, mostly don't scale when grouped up - this results to situations like four dragons overlapping, and units crowded so much that it is really difficult to make out what the unit composition is unless you click it anyway.
Other fantasy TBS games resolve to single-model representations coupled with a number describing the amount of units of that particular model. This may lose out on "epicness" but it is a much cleaner and better organized representation. Since every unit would only be represented by a single model, multiple units in one army on one tile would be much easier to see. Preferably, this would extend to tactical battles as well, again making the battlefield less cluttered.
An alternative approach is that of Galactic Civilizations II - fleets are representated by multiple models, but instead of showing them all there was a number associated with them, indicating the number of models. Here, the models could be scaled down some more and represented with a number as well to make it visually more lucid.
