This breakthrough reveals new Food Resources in the world. Any passerby might stumble upon the more obvious sources of fertile soils, but adventurers regularly tell stories regarding isolated paradises in the wild rife with food.

When you finally achieve it, usually some kind of food resource appears in your ZOC. However, if I create a city after I achieve "The Lost Bounty" does that one get an extra food source. So far it seems like it only effects the cities I currently have and not the ones that I establish after the research breakthrough. If that is the case, is this a bug or should I just wait to research this entire string.

Correct... this only drops a few specific food resources in your current ZOC. So if you have 3 cities and complete this research you'll recieve no future food resources for new cities. Also if you have 300 cities and complete this research you'll recieve the same amount of food resources as if you owned 3 cities. This is what I have observed from my gameplay.

i have already been forced once to go to war to reclaim a spawned resource because while in my zone of control, it was so ridiculously on the fringes, that i was going to loose it, which ofcourse, once reclaimed, supplied the conquered city because it was closer. it should be limited in placement to ensure its yours, barring extreme events.

i feel compelled to warn, this places resources ANYWHERE in your Zone of control, this includes, stupidly, on the far, far fringes of a city at the border with a rival nation, so that in some circumstances, you are guarenteed to loose that resource when the rival increases his influence.

I am fine with that. I think that is some thing I should fight over. I think of that scenario, I found it, but the information leaked out to my rival and now it is a race to claim. If I lose the race, I can certainly win the battle over it. I just think it should also generate extra food for a new city I found. I am okay with not spawning extra food in a city that I conquer, but if I found a new one, it should.
