Is it just me, or does everyone just give a bow to all his troops and kill everything before it even reaches your lines?
Kinda silly that there's alot of creatures out there with 60+ attack, but almost no defence whatsoever. So it would be kinda silly to go up against them with melee since they usually get one shotted. But you can easily kill them with just archers and maybe some magic. I don't use alot of magic, I usually make my wife a mage and my sovereign a melee warrior. But once you get several hero's in your party this gets fairly annoying as your sovereign always gets put behind all of the archers. Is there any way to place your units before combat begins? not that it matters much anyway since none of the enemies usually reach my few melee characters anyway.
I play a custom sovereign wich has archery from the bat btw. The only danger you ever have is meeting creatures with an aoe or ranged attack, but you can snipe those fairly easy if you look out for them.
And it's also alot cheaper btw, since all your army really requires are bow, you can skip the armor all together. I usually only have 1-2 hero's in armor. I put most of my points in just strength and some battle speed so I can shoot 2x/turn.
So there's not alot of challenge at all. And if you try going more melee, you are bound to lose hero's to monsters with insanely high attack. Unless you are quite late in the game when you have some serious armor. But usually there are some creaturs with very high attack values around very early.
This may all have been said before and it's probably already on the schedule to balance things out, but here's my 2 cents anyway. I do really enjoy the game though, but it becomes too much of a grind.
