I've played the game for some time now and I don't know if it is a bug or not, so I thought asking wouldn't hurt.
Well, the thing is, while most units have fairly acceptable stats and are more or less defeatable, there are a few who seem to be... erm, undefeatable? I mean, how do you defeat something that deals several thousand damage with each attack while hiding behind above 1000 defence? The problem is, this monster regerates nearly 10% of its more than 100 hp each turn and it has a combat rating of >13000, so my moral drops constantly, even if I can keep it frozen the whole time thanks to my sovereign's wonderful children. (see below ^^)
Is there any other solution than buying five or six demons and killing it off in three combat turns with their special attack, which deals 10 dmg and never misses? To me this is the only answer right now and five demons are an expansive way to remove the threat.
But other than that, there is the issue with my children's stats. I know that they are also able to use magic, but is it normal that their capability by far surpasses that of their own parent? I mean, with my lvl 10 sovereign I have around 50 essence, whereas his son was at 150 on lvl 1 - and unlike my sovereign he is also a fairly good fighter. It was the same with his three sisters, one even going over 200 essence. Is that supposed to be that way?
My next question derives from the case of those children... they have the great ability to regain up to 6 hp and 6 essence each combat turn, while my soverein has to wait one turn for each and every point of essence without healing anything in combat. Is there any way to get those useful regenerating skills for him, too?
This leads me straight to the next thing: Is it possible that defence determines if a spell hits? Since the monsters in the wilds are getting stronger and stronger, my spells do little to no damage and have increasingly more problems to hit at all, which is a real pain, because my sovereign is forced to use more and more essence in each battle while his essence isn't regerating. Is there a way to increase the damage of spells and/or reduce the misses? Or is my sovereign condemned to watch from the sidelines while others are fighting?
And the last question concerns the monsters in the wilds. Are they supposed to be that... erm, numerous? Not only are there so many of them, but they are also strong. I've seen the option of auto-exploring on a few units, but I see absolutely no way to send anyone beyond my borders without them getting killed two or three turns later. I even can't hire someone within the wilds without them being attacked and killed on the beginning of the following turn. No matter where I go, there are monsters in every direction.
Of course I get exp and gold for them, but questing with the main hero (my sovereign) and at the same time being unable to do anything due to being too weak or lacking essence isn't what I expected from the mighty and powerful sovereign. Not that he should be able to do everything on his own, but after a few hundred of turns he seems a bit useless to me. Since his children are more powerful than he ever will be and are still unable to take down some neutral monsters, I fail to see the point in questing at all. So is there a way to make the sovereign considerably stronger other than leveling up?
And no, I am not playing on hard or anything like that. I play on normal.
