Question for Beta players, i may need help

Hello, recently my graphics card went into meltdown and my dad kindly bought me a new one its a ASUS EAH5450(its a custom ATI RADEON HD 5450) and with some games i have been getting the following error message

First screen: Generic application error enable debug output for detailed information. Switching to the reference rasterizer, a software device that implements the entire Direct 3D feature set, but runs very slowly.

click ok and on second screen: Warning; Nothing will be rendered. The reference rendering device was selected, but your computer only has a reduced-functionality reference device installed. Install the DirectX SDK to get the full rendering device.

click ok and on third screen: Generic application error. Enable debug output for detailed information. This sample will now exit.

after that its the normal program has incounter an error so windows has closed it. My question is has anyone in the Beta had the same problem because i am planning to get elemental as soon as i can and if its one of the games that is going to have this problem i want to fix it before i get elemental so i can play it right away. i have tried fixing it myself but with out much luck as i dont really know much about this so i thought i would try asking here.

The error is down to Direct3D not recognising the card. I'd make sure you had the latest graphics driver, though if it is a custom card it might be problematic.

The only thing I can suggest is to make sure you have the latest drivers from ATI. I have the same card as you, running win 7 64x, and I haven't had any of those errors... There may be a problem with the card - old drivers or firmware maybe, or with the PCIe slot (which might be what burned out your old card?)

Follow usual troubleshooting steps:

1. Make sure you have most up-to-date version of video drivers. You can pick them here http://support.amd.com/us/gpudownload/Pages/index.aspx

2. Make sure your Direct X is up to date - http://www.microsoft.com/games/en-us/aboutgfw/pages/directx.aspx

3. Make sure your OS is fully patched

4. Make sure you have enough free space on your hard drive - you need at least 4G for page file

5. Make sure nothing else is running at the same time

6. Download and run anti-virus - you can get MS Security Essentials for free and it does decent job.

I have tried what you have suggested and it hasn't worked, however if you haven't had any problems kuriostone hopefully it will work.

The best fix I've found is to....not buy an ATI card. NVidia, the way games were meant to be played!!!

Yeah, NVIDIA drivers usually of better quality, but ATI makes good cards and many people are ATI fans that will not consider buying NVIDIA card.
