I say it because ultimately I was disappointed with GC2, and as a result I promised myself to no longer make day1 purchases, no matter how highly I think of the company putting out the game.
I suppose I am going to purchase the game at some point anyway, so you could say why not be in it on day 1? The reason is because we all know that the day 30 version is going to be different form the day1 version (better we assume), so why waste my time with something that is going to change in such a short time? It annoys me to start a game, and then to have the balance/mechanics constantly changed while I'm trying to figure out my preferred strategies, or to find that certain strategies are too overpowered, and later rendered useless as changes come in.
GC2 had this problem for me, though they never quite addressed the major problems I had with the game, but that's not really here or there. I don't regret buying it or playing it, just that I felt as though I wasted a fair bit of time playing the day1 release until things were improved.
Now, I'm not one of those telling SD to sit on Elemental until it's 100% ready (because that never happens anyway), but I know myself, and I know what I want from Elemental, and I feel rather strongly right now that day 1 elemental is NOT what I want, so I will wait a bit and hope it winds up closer to what I am looking for, or expect by day 30 or 60 or whatever. Thus I don't have the bad taste in my mouth from a 'bad' (well mediocre may be more fair) first impression.
