Bah, if I would have $5 million, I wouldn't work for sure. Either way, that is pretty impressive. [..on a related note: I just read that Activision Invested More than $100 Million in StarCraft II Development but what do I read 2 mins later? -> StarCraft II Did Not Cost $100 Million To Make ]
The GameSpot people are a bunch of morons, honestly. They made the same mistake that the Wall Street Journal made. I knew I should have posted a link to the original article when I saw it earlier this week. GameSpot themselves said the same thing using WSJ as it's source and now they've printed a retraction on the GameSpot site saying:
[UPDATE] Since this article was published, the Wall Street Journal has retracted its article, saying that the $100 million budget estimate was, in fact, for World of Warcraft not Starcraft II. GameSpot regrets repeating the error. The original, erroneous story is below for reference.
They completely took down or edited the original link/page they had up saying the same WSJ said. The least they could have done was to have left their mistake up and Then printed a retraction. Instead though they print the retraction and cover up their mistake, because as we all know, GameSpot can NEVER be Wrong. They are the infallible source of all gaming knowledge!!! They are the Gods of Game Reviews and Gaming Information and if you're not a GameSpot fanboy then obviously you must not know Anything about gaming because Gamespot is the source for all true gaming facts!!! *rolls eyes*
I think the only reason they admitted they were wrong is because the Wall Street Journal printed their retraction. Here's the "Revised" Gamespot article on the subject. http://www.gamespot.com/news/6269369.html
I swear these people are a bunch of corporate ass-jockeys. How anyone with half a brain can buy into the mass produced hype they create is beyond me. Their reviews are tainted by buy-offs which is heavily apparent to Anyone who pays attention. That's why a lot of times, especially here recently, they'll hype a game up to generate pre-orders for the game, but then once the game comes out if it doesn't do well in sales or it has blatant game-play problems they downplay their previous views. I'm starting to think Corporate Ceo's in the gaming industry are just as bad as the corrupted ass-hats we have in our government. I really wish there was a way to fix the world so that money wasn't the thing that "makes the world go round".
Pathetic greed motivated slime balls are destroying the world. Tis sad but true.
