I would like to see this as well. You could do it in Lords of Magic and Age of Wonders (and probably in other games too) as a spell with a pretty minor mana cost. I found it annoying in the FFH mod for example, where your scout would pick up an artifact halfway around the world and you'd have to make the trek back to the homeland, wasting time and risking painful death to deliver a health potion or magic rod.
