The destruction of all the old civilizations brought on by the war of the Titans took away the reason for money. So the survivors reverted to the bartering of old, and went back to weighing things to assure fair trade.  As time went on some semblance of order appeared and new terms of the weight and weighing became the the root of new currencies.  So as the ancient Greeks of our world created 'Stater' as a coin ( literally meaning  'weigh') I'd suggest that Skael be the new coin, as it refers to the scales used to weigh items of worth.  This word is similar to the Old Norse word skål which meant  a cup or shell used as a measurement.

How about snausages?.................no really.  I dare you. 

I'm partial to good old fashion gold personally. Gold is the standard by which all other currencies are measured.

Out of the two in the OP I prefer rigma.

As a side note what's the plural of rigma?  Rigmas?

I'd like a basic description of the currency, if possible, as in is it basic metal coins or will it be covered in a different way - such as metalic squares or leather notes or some such?

On a diffrent chain of thought, as we're playing as people who are rebuilding the world from scratch after it was destroyed, would it not make sense to allow us to name the currency whatever we so chose? I mean, if we're the ones rebuilding everything then I think we should be able to name it if we want? Maybe use whatever the decided name is as the default?

I like Crowns (real world) that has a royal appeal to it. Thus these "I MADZ A WARD!!" names just make me cringe.

I use virgins for currency anyway. Or the skulls of gnomes. If I have to hand over a bag full of shiskibahibannieh'sheufls then Im gonna be pissed!

It seems to me that in a world with a multitude of equal and diverse nations, you would be less likely to find a dominant currency than a dominant material. Historically, people traded precious metals or valuable, easily transportable goods such as tea bricks. It wasn't the image on the coin that was valuable so much as the weight and purity.

What you need isn't a currency name so much as a generic word for shiny coins or colorful beads or whatever these people carry around in their pockets. I actually like "rigma", as long as the plural form is the same.

Gildar or Rigma as long there is no pural. No one sayes you owe me 500 golds.

But i would say a seperate coin for each faction would be cool as long as them are all worth 1:1 ratio ingame.

ps a custom name for custom faction would be even better.

I suppose if I had to choose between Rigma or Gildar, I would choose Rigma. Only if its 1 Rigma, 10 Rigma, 1000 Rigma, type of deal. Another option I liked, that was mentioned by some, is Shardii.

Personally, I think "rigma" sounds horrible. "Gildar" sounds ok but sounds more like a name more than anything..Gildar the Great! I agree with some of the other posters...Gold or Silver sounds just fine.

which ever is reached in the end i'm sure we won't care that much since we will be playing the game, but since you brought it up now its an issue that we didn't care about before that now we do.
