Manual, guide, anything?

I preordered the game ages ago, and have the beta installed, but until this Christmas weekend have not had much time to fool around with the system. I've created towns, built some roads, harvested food and explored a bit, but not much else. What I am really looking for are shortcuts, suggestions and answers to some questions.

Q: If I have three towns built, is there any handy way to cycle between them so I can see what they are all doing?

Q: Map scrolling, via click and drag only?

Q: How do I get more essence?

Q: Why do houses take so long to build? Huts are fast, houses seem to take forever.

Q: My starting town, with a farm and a hut, has a max pop of 25. A secondary town with an identical farm and a hut has a much higher max pop. Why?

Q: Is there a good place where I can read the answers to some of these (and more) questions?

I. Not that I know of.

2. As far as I can tell, though side-scrolling should work eventually.

3. Not sure if you can.

4. Build times are more like placeholders, they're likely to change with feedback.

5. There is some weird research mechanisim that grants bonuses recieved from research for population, food, and prestige to only cities that were built after the research was completed. It will be changed, just dont know when.

6. There is the beta wiki, found in the elemental beta section. However, since the betas have changed over time, the wiki probably wont be completely accurate or very detailed, but should give you a general overview. Once the game gets closer to release(probably fall 2010) a 'real' guide will be released.

You can sorta jump beween units and towns with the TAB key, but it makes no distinction between towns and units on the map and it seems to get wonky after a game is around 100 turns old and/or you pass some threshhold of too many units & towns. The TAB key isn't mentioned on the Keyboard page at the wiki, maybe because it is 'buggy.'

Not yet but there should be. If there isn't by beta 3, yell and yell loudly.

Edge scroll should be in soon.

Needs to be balanced.
