this has nothing to do with a virus 
(it is btw the reason i have been trying to explain several other people for YEARS why you cannot simply copy a game´s folder onto an external HD, then format your built-in HD when you´re experiencing some windows prob and simply paste back your game folder afterwards when you installed a new windows) :
virtually any (or, at least, most) software you install will not only install itself into the appropriate folder, but also into various registry entries hidden deep within the windows system folders 
and, sadly, if you choose to uninstall it, it is very much likely that these entries do not get deleted completely.
so, if you REALLY wanna get rid of a software completely (including save games, windows registry entries, registration keys, the folder itself and the like), you may use some tool like regcleaner which makes the software get whiped out from your HD and not only "uninstalled".
