The 0.23 patch did not get a kosher instance of the game running on my machine. I can still get going via deleting the FamilyTree file(s) and restoring after the main menu displays. My overall performance seems a bit 'buggier,' although I don't think it's fair to call anything a bug if you've manually mangled your installation.
So, given that it doesn't seem right to try posting 'real' bugs, I'm curious to see what changes other splash->CTD sufferers have seen between 0.22 and 0.23. On the down side, I've found that NUM pad movement is erratic now, with the 1,3,7, and 9 keys often behaving like they were 2,4,6, and 8.
On the up side, I really appreciate being able to turn the Environment Color intensity up. (It does leave me wanting some What's This-type help to explain what colors other than the fairly obvious 'good for a town' green mean.) Seeing that green made me try founding a town by a Great Dragon fountain, and doing that doesn't cost essence for me. But it might make the essence total act wonky--looks like some sort of disappeared when I wasn't looking.
It's also impressive to see the devs get so many little things done in a one-week span even while they're fighting with big stuff like crashes with no workaround. The UI has some art polish already here and there and it looks like the frequency of the hit-point boosting rings is way down, or maybe they're gone.
If you're one of the folks posting in or watching the game will not go past title screen thread or its cousins, how're things going for you?
