Homosexuals...

The next step in evolution?

Could homosexuality be a part of evolution? Could it be the next step in the process? This is what we talked about in our science class a couple weeks ago.

As you have noticed, there are more and more homosexuals/bisexuals every day. Now, I don’t know exactly “how” they became homosexuals. I have heard that if there was an excessive amount of testosterone in a woman she would naturally be more attracted to women (the opposite with a man) and that is a fairly reasonable account. I can believe that. Then there is the theory that you have to choose. But either way, there are more homosexuals developing everyday.

Now, if there is a “hormonal imbalance” is it possible to be passed on through offspring? What if the woman with the excessive testosterone decides to be a “bisexual”, have sex with a man and have a baby girl. Will the girl have the same condition? If so, then overtime, all inhabitants of earth with will be gay or bisexual... more bisexual that gay.

This might have been mentioned in carebears article, I didn't read it all, but homosexuality is not an evolutionary improvement. If anything it is a dead end, and if it becomes a dominant trait, a dead end for the species. Put simply, homosexual people do not have children, thus the race does not continue. Adoption doesn't count, because someone else had to have the kid for it to be adopted. So either a homosexual person lives homosexual, or rejects their homosexuality to have children. Bisexual is different, since they would still be reproducing. Now having said that, I think homosexuality is a learned behavior, not a genetic or hormonal trait. But that's just my opinion, I havn't seen proof either way.

okay i'm not doing my whole schpeel again i already did oh ash's. I deal with it, pray for god to just take it away. I feel better now that i'm with brandon and all. my life's taking good steps away from the bi thing. I actually was thinking that its like an evolution thing. maybe it is.

Alright, I know I've stated my opinion on this kind of thing many times before but why stop now?

I don't believe it's evolutionary. Of course, I have no proof but that's why it's a belief. I used to try and fight my opinion but now I'll just leave it more politically correct by saying that I have no proof either way so I just won't try to say it's one or the other.

I really hope that the author is not in Med school, because that is some of the stupidest debate I have ever heard. Do me a favor and learn how to make a proper argument before you play with arteries.

Homosexuality itself needs to be defined in a much more clearer way.
The want to take it up the ass and the actual living a lifestyle (taking it up the shooter everyday) are two totally different things.

There are millions of married men that occasionaly have sex with other men because they find that more appealing at that point in time.
Wheter or not they feel guilty is a seperate issue.
So in the above stated circumstance, would the daddy that ocasionally sucks Jose's penis be gay?

Socrates and Plato where both full time cocksuckers, they are also the fathers of modern day thought. During their time having sex with Men was no big deal. You fudged who you wanted to, you weren't hurting someone else, so they where cool with you.

This is not actually talking of the topic of how homosexuality began...just replying to something Danny posted:

What about those who have had intercourse with the other sex JUST for the sake of conceiving...they are not rejecting their homosexuality (or maybe I misunderstood what you meant) . For example, what about a lesbian couple who wants children...and one of them sleeps with a man just to conceive, and not because they are attracted to him. This seems to be a growing occurence.

I admit I did say it a bit harshly, and for that I apologize. I'll try to do better.
To rephrase using your lesbian couple as an example: If she decides she wants a child, then in the process of having sex with a man she will have (at least temporarily) put aside her lesbianess, otherwise she would not be having sex with a man. Now I am resonable certain that homosexual is defined as sex with same gender, while bisexual is sex with either. The woman in this example would be bisexual.
I'm trying to look at this all from an evolutionary standpoint, since that was what morethame's article was about. The idea of evolution is change through time, the 'better' changes being the ones that pass on to the next generation. If there is no next generation, then the change that brought you there was an evolutionary dead end. A same sex couple is unable to have children, they have to import from outside of the couple, be it through adoption or egg/sperm donors. Hence the statement that one can't remain homosexual while reproducing.
Or I could have no idea what I'm talking about, I can't ever rule that out

I never looked at it quite the way you did in your first comment, Danny, about the dead end of the species. If it is evolutionary, wouldn't the species deter from that path if it should lead to a dead end?

Hmm....I believe it could be an evolutionary way of killing off some of the species....you know...like the lemming myth thing? Well, the lemmings supposedly kill themselves by running off of cliffs, frankly I think its bullshit....but the human race may be doing something of the sort. By becoming gay and not reproducing the population will in a long, long time start to decline. It makes sense, because there are no natural predators of humans, and we don't kill enough of eachother....so when you get about 6 billion or so of something, there's got to be some population control eventually....or cannibilism....but let's hold off on that for awhile, eh?

Perhaps this is an evolutionary way of controlling overpopulation.

From what I've heard and read, and in my limited conversations with homosexuals, it is as much of a choice as the choice you have in your eye color.

Which is why prejudice against gays is exactly the same thing as racism. It's the same cycle all over again: the progressives push for equal civil rights, the fundamentals claim that the minority is inferior for whatever reason, and eventually the masses side with the progressives. Problem is, the fundies are always convinced that whatever the issue is, "this time it's different". It's happened with women, blacks, and now gays.

History repeats itself, don't let anyone tell you otherwise.

The idea that homosexuality is a learned response or anti-evolutionary is one of the saddest things I've read on here. There are actually people on this blog, stating with a straight face that homosexuality is an aberration because it will lead to the decline of the human race. Don't get me wrong, I'm fine with men and men and women and women but I agree that humanity is doomed. But it's not because of homosexuals, it's because of heterosexuals. Homosexuals have never breed much in recent years. They used to centuries ago when they couldn't admit to their feelings. Nowadays most right minded people don't care what you do with your genitals. Fact of the matter is: birth rates are declining sharply in the civilized world. Since homosexuals represent a tiny part of the breeding population (about 5-7%, I think, in the US according to the exit polls) this is mainly due to people holding off on having kids until they have their career sorted out. Instead of a woman having three kids between 23 and 32, she has one kid at 35. Do the maths. I won't pretend to be comfortable around homosexuals but I'll always defend their right to lead their own lives, the way they want to lead them.

I'm right behind you Frightlever (pardon the pun). I do have both homosexual and bisexual friends, as well as straight friends. None of them are any better or worse than anyone else. I find the idea of people 'developing' homosexual behaviour asinine, as if suggesting homosexuality was a disease.

I believe the reason you might think there are more homosexuals in the world is because more people are willing to be who they are, without fear of prejudice. It is unfortunate there are still so many closed minded, ignorant people in the world who address homosexuality as a problem. Be it nature or nuture, it doesn't matter. So long as people are not hurting one another and being true to themselves, who gives a fuck about their sexual orientation?

I to don't have a problem with homosexuals. Everyone I've met have always been supportive and always have something nice to say about everything . Most of them can be a littlle overopinionated, but they are still nice people. Again I use the word "people " because that's what they are. They're not any different from heterosexuals physical; they have arms, legs, feet, toes hands, fingers, head, eyes, heart and ect(the list goes on and on). The only difference is the person they chose to be in a relationship with. Ones sexual orientation is usually kept private anyway, so why would it matter if a person was guy or not. The only way anyone would know is if the person told everybody, or, if the perosn was cought in the bedroom. But for outside appearence, they're the same.

And don't give me this "they seem kind of feminine, so they must be gay" Bullshit. They're some guys that are really feminie, but they are not guy, just anal -retentive. Some of the most macho men are homosexuals, can't think of an example right know, but not all homosexuals act like females.
