So, I was very excited to get in on beta-testing and development of Elemental, I set up Impulse, and it just plain crashed every time I tried to get to ordering the game.
A bunch of hair-pulling and a tech support exchange later, I find out that Impulse doesn't work on XP 64. So I uninstall it, and the uninstaller is so broken that I am left with an error message coming up every few minutes and a process I have to manually kill in order to get rid of the executable.
With Stardock's long reputation for tweaking Windows behaviors and quality software, I am seriously taken aback by this horrible experience. My confidence in the company is quite shaken.
But MoM is still one of only two computer games my wife enjoys playing, and our enthusiasm for a potential worthy successor is not entirely gone. We're willing to give it a try - if we can actually download and play it. After the debacle with Impulse, I am very leery of sending in money without a direct assurance that the game will work on XP64 when downloaded via Impulse Anywhere, and that preordering will really let us participate in the beta test and final tuning.
