Women have always been known as the “weaker sex”… basically from the beginning of time. It has always been thought that women should stay at home and raise the kids and the husband is the protector and provider. It has been just 40 or so years ago that us women gained the right to vote. Since then, more women are going to colleges and getting a better education. More women are doctors and lawyers. But, when we gain new rights, so do men. Women and men will never have equality. Women will always be the weak part of society …
There are careers that were created especially for men, like construction work and welding (and some women carry those jobs too), but the jobs that men and women can share… men still are paid more. I mean, a male doctor is paid more than a female doctor… when they are doing the exact same job! Tell me… how? Just because men rise above women in strength and stature doesn’t mean that they should be paid more when they are doing the EXACT same work. It is ridiculous… we can go to school for the same amount of time, serve and internship for the same amount of time, and be in our profession for the same amount of time… and still the man gets more when they are doing the same amount of work with the same quality…
Also, men seem to always be the controlling part of a relationship. You see husbands grab their wives’ arms and whip them around if they say or do something that is against them (I’m not saying ALL men do that… I just know that abuse happens). I also know that there are some women who abuse men… and that is uncalled for also. But for a man, who is twice the size and twice the strength of a woman, jerks her around, hits her and yells in her face is more than uncalled for. That should be abuse as well as discrimination.
As a woman, I will never bow down to any man… The relationships I sustain will be mutual, and we will love and respect each other the same. I will not sit there and take a man yelling in my face. No one, especially a man who is equal to me, will yell at me for something I did wrong. I have the capability to learn from my mistakes, and I do not need anyone to reinforce them.
For everyone out there who thinks this is overrated… think again. Women walk around carrying their husband’s last name. Woman in most households fix the breakfast, lunch and dinner… (And I know there are some exceptions with the man of the house actually knowing how to cook or is nice enough to attempt to cook.) We carry YOUR offspring for nine months, without us… society would crumble away. So put yourself in a woman’s shoes… respect them, love them, cherish them… like we do to you… We are your future, just like you are ours. Give us the dignity we deserve.
You may have the power of the past… but we have the minds of the future.
I hold my views strongly, so why don’t you?
Stand your ground.
