idk but I put 4 star bases on star and they kept send ships in multi star game with multi comps it was 2 teams at once I could put a  level one cap ship and like in 10 mins its maxxed out so idk

No idea.  I hadn't played in a long time, so perhaps this was added before Entrenchment, but it's new to me.  Pirates no longer take the same route every single time they're coming to attack you.  I setup the world closest to theirs with heavy mines and defenses only for them to decide to take the long way around and hit a much less defended world.  Fluke or actual AI change, I like it a lot.

One odd AI change is I find they create a ton of scouts to clear mines.  An impressive attacking force entered one of my gravwells covered in mines and they brought 40+ Navigators.  On the one hand, they made a killing on XP destroying my 80+ minefield after their initial force was beaten up by jumping into the system.  On the other, that seems like a lot of credits to be spent on mine-clearing.  But I haven't played enough yet and keep forgetting to build scouts myself, so maybe a couple score of them is a really good idea with their low supply and cost.

the ai actually fights for neutral extractors now. that's also quite an important issue.

yeah AI is much better, I'm not sure if it goes for stuff like the novalith cannon but many aspects have been improved, such as retreating for example as it wont just run off leading you on a planet hop ti you reach the homeworld, if it has to make a last stand with the few ships it still has in the hope of forcing you back, then it will

And if my interpretation of one of the patch change logs was correct there is more in store for AI restructurering 

Talk about annoying changes that I didn't expect! 

Another thing I noticed is that the AI actually uses wormholes intelligently now. Before, they would just send in a light frigate and use it pretty much like a scout. Now they actually use them for suprise attacks. I had a planet that was heavily fortified next to a Vasari hard AI. Instead of attacking that planet, they sent a huge fleet through a wormhole that came out in the middle of a bunch of my planets. Thankfully, I had a starbase on the other side that I had used to extend my trade route, and I was able to upgrade its health enough to distract the enemy fleet until my fleet (with a level 8 Marza) could arrive. The AI's attack failed, but I was still impressed to see them do something different.

The AI may not be perfect, but it's getting much more challenging now. The only improvement i think the AI still need (after the game i just played) would be to include structure busting ships along it's raiding fleets (the small fleets it's sometimes use to attack lightly defended planets). In fact, i believe the pirates should get such ship too. Destroying orbitals do hurt our war efforts a lot more than bombing the planet itself...

Speaking of pirates, while they seem a bit smarter than they used to, they are pushovers now. Their fortress planet is so easy to take out now due to structure busting ships (last game i cleared it in a few minutes despite the large fleet it had to defend it). Also, they don't seem to upgrade themselves (i believe they did before), their ships blow a lot faster when our ships are upgraded.

Anyway, Entrenchement did improve Sins by a lot, it was well worth buying.

as far as diplomacy goes the AI is very, very bad.

Got Entrechment now  it does seem the Ai are more clever it used to be like C&C ai, build send in a mass then do  nothing. Now I feel challanged.

Thats daft that the Ai dont build super weapons did the developers forget to code that in?

Well, I guess the Dev's listend a little to well.  Because, on hard AI, they all just come after me at the same time.  Even if I attempt to ally with one of them by showering them with credits/metal/crystal and doing their little dirty work.  They still all come after me.

Which, I guess isnt, a bad thing.  It just means you cant expand as far as you could before.  You have to "entrench" around a few planets, withstand the first assualt and go from there.  

Here again...my next campaign promise for Galactic President: "You've heard me lie before, well today, I tell an ever bigger lie.  Once elected, your new government will not stand by idle, while solar systems are bullied en masse by tyrants who do not adhere to the same level of 'spit in my face and sleep with my wife' style of politics that we hold so dear.  No one likes to 'take it'.  You should of at least have to buy me dinner first!  And I'll make that a galactic law!"

I started a game 1v1 and the ai hardly attacked me with sufficent force to cause me problems. Only time i had a problem was taking out 2 fully upgraded starbases, which i countered later on by taking a large cap ship heavy fleet to waste em

TBH the Ai in the orginal game was a bit tougher
