I ran across a news blurb pertaining to plans for four micro-expansions, not three, including Entrenchment. Sounds like Ironclad has a lot of ideas.
Sounds good to me!
One thing I am leery of however - I hope that in the excitement to expand Sins, the developers don`t go too "paper, scissors, rock" on us. As it is now, most starship types can be at least moderately effective versus any other. Perhaps the only exception being the siege ships. I want to see more varied ship types exclusive to each faction, but I do not want to see an increase in 'specialized' use assets.
(i.e. a Vasari Cruiser class siege ship with double beam bombarders broadside and phase missiles for general combat; heavy armour, no special abilities)
I am leery of the new long-range class of attacker starships being introduced in Entenchment. We will have exceptional effort made to introduce a game-flow changing mechanic (starbases and improved defense structures) only to have an equally nullifying counter unit introduced. Doesn`t this run the danger of obviating the new design?
I hope such things are being pondered carefully. Otherwise we might end up with nothing but fleets of the new long-range attackers, which to my mind isn`t really in the spirit of a well-balanced game.
