Now, I know that many people have come on here with relatively poor remarks of Sins, and usually I can deduce they aren't big Strategy gamers. Anyone who loves a strategy game could at least find Sins somewhat enjoyable - lucky for me I find it very enjoyable.
Pretty much everything about the game is very good, except for a few minor qualms. I'd like to make a few notes to the developers about some of the choices they've made, and why I feel some changes are in order.
While the graphics are fairly nice, the ships themselves seem a bit dull. When I looked at some of my TEC ships they appeared to simply be geometric figures glued together and painted over with gray on more gray. I thought back to my Homeworld 2 days and how each ship had a very distinct and wonderfully charming characteristic about it. The ship itself was bright and vivid; easily identifyable to the eye without having to squint to see exactly what it is. I know you can hold your mouse over it to see the ship type, but that takes away some of the immersion. Part of a strategy game is enjoying what you have created, which brings me to my next point.
I believe some of the asteroids or planets are a little underscaled in comparison to the ships, although the ships feel rather tiny now anyway. Sometimes I wish things were blown up just a bit; made things a bit easier to the eye. A friend of mine made the comment that he loved the ships, but just wish he was able to see more of them. This is not a hugely important part of the game, but it would definately help.

One last thing (I do not have many complaints); I believe the cat and mouse AI you have is rather annoying. By the end of a game with an AI, basically it is me chasing him with a superior fleet he could not dream of counter-attacking. While this may seem like something logical to do (I've read some of the responses) it does not seem like a tactical thing to do in every case. If you were significantly outgunned it would be reasonable, but if they are even a little weaker I believe tactically it would be wise to try and use hit and run tactics to soften up the enemy while they advance. If you whittle away at someone as they attack, they will eventually lose momentum and be forced to either rebuild their forces or retreat. Continuing to run simply means you are allowing them more ground bit by bit.
Also, sometimes I find the AI doesn't realize its own strength when it comes to its forces. I've seen ships that made me gulp when I warped in, only to sigh in disapointment when the AI turned around and just left. The colony is mine, no fight necessary. Often times I have not even fought the AI until I reached their home planet - those kinds of games are boring.
I know many believe I should just drop the single player aspect and jump into multiplayer. While this is a reasonable argument, I know my skills are nowhere near that of an Ironclad Online player. I have never been very good at fighting other players since I often have no 'rushing' skills. While I may consider this once I become more comfortable with the game, I will for now settle with the AI and co-op matches with the Mrs.
I hope Ironclad or Stardock takes these suggestions to heart and thinks about it in their future 1.1 release! Cheers to a great game - I made my best friend and my girlfriend buy it not only because it is great, but also because of the Gamers Bill of Rights at the Gamers FIRST policy of customer service. Cheers!
Oh, and one more thing. Change the voices of the TEC ships. They sound like nerdy teenagers who are thrilled they are in a sci-fi setting.
