Size of Sins Big Games?

Demo user question on full game...

Big question to determine if I purchase Sins...

On the random single player games, how large are the "huge" games? The demo gives you a very respectible solar system of 20 points of interest, but is a "medium" world.

How large can you get the playing area up to?

How many planets (or points of interest) can you get up to?

Can you allow multiple solar systems? I believe the demo stated you could. If so, how do multiple systems work?

Multi-star maps are possible. You have to research the tech to be able to jump between stars.

A Huge multi-star random map is five stars with a total of 102 planets/asteroids/etcetera.

You can also use the Map "Designer" which is like a random map generator to make maps as large as you want, I think. Also, you can use Galaxy Forge to design maps planet by planet.

However, the real Sins game is online multiplayer against human opponents, in which case you'll mostly see the large random single star map (3v3 is common) along with the huge random single star map (for 4v4). You might also see the medium random single star (2v2), the large random multistar (4v4), and the huge random multistar (5v5) and a couple other maps here and there.

The map designer allows huge maps. I've been up to 150 planets, but its possible to have many more.

The only practical limit I can see is your computer. 150 planets with 10 empires, is a huge load on a computer when you get to mid-game, when everyone has a full fleet and all the planets are colonised.

Games last hours.

A friend and I just finished a 9 hour game with 150 planets. It was lots of fun.

You can make games as short as anhour or two if need be, or you and your team can save and continue on another day if the game ends up being too long

and there is NO LIMIT to how large you can make things, its just however much your computer can handle. Most higher end computers seem to be capable of 150-ish, at least thats my limit (3.2ghz dual core, 3 gb ram).

Ah. Very cool to know that you can do whatever you want in Forge.

Fortunately, I have a 8600GT and 4GB of ram, so I may be able to do a big game. I fully understand how long a game takes to win - I have yet to beat the CPU in 1hr 30min that the demo gives you (provided, I'm not an aggressive player).
