Really I'm Gonna Babble

Balloon

Would you go up in a hot air balloon? Which is more scarier, a hot air balloon ride or a helicopter ride?

I twice been in a helicopter and had no problems at all.

I do know I would like to ride in a hot air balloon but I would be afraid.

I have problems with heights. I can ride any roller coaster. Doesn’t matter how high, how fast or how many loops I love it but I’m scared to ride giant ferris wheels.

Anniversary

Today is my 3rd anniversary here at JU. Traditionally I should get leather. (Oh the possibility of jokes you readers are thinking up right now)

Rose discovered JU first and even though she told me all about it I never visited because it was her discovery. A place I thought she could write her thoughts without having to worry about me reading it. But she kept asking me to join and try writing.

This is my 55th article. Not too many for 3 years. My goal was to write a blog every 2 weeks so at that rate I should have 78 articles. Hey, I’m slow.

I’m glad I came here. Not being a writer it was intimidating writing at first considering all the talented writers here. Hopefully I have improved since my 1st blog.

It’s been fun here commenting and getting to know some of you. Thanks to everyone who not only read my writings but left comments.

Breaking Bad

As anyone who knows me or anyone sees how fast I do JU Writing Challenges they know I’m a procrastinator. So if I were to say I finally saw the first season of the AMC show “Breaking Bad” they wouldn’t be surprised.

I have had it TIVO’d forever now. It’s only 7 episodes and every one is good.

The short version of the series is a high school chemistry teacher, who after finding out he has lung cancer decides to become a meth dealer to pay for chemo and to have money for his family when he dies.

It stars Bryan Cranston. He played the father on “Malcolm in the Middle”. He’s very good in it. I highly recommend it.

Lemonade

There are so many places here that sell homemade lemonade and damn it tastes so good. My mother can make some great lemonade. Mmmm I love it!

I found a recipe for lemonade online and I may try to make some soon but again I am a procrastinator.

I probably will try it this week though since it has been 100 degrees or more for a week straight now. The last 2 days it has been 105 and 106. I think I need to buy some lemons and lots of ice. Well, that or a pool.

Intelligence

I’ve always said some people who are book smart or school smart can lack any common sense. When you see a person who to you isn’t intelligent is it because he lacks education or is it because he never read enough or is it because they lack common sense.

I have seen people in here and in real life who have seemed very intelligent and some have college degrees and then when they talk it appears they have a total lack of common sense. It’s almost like you can’t believe it.

How important do you think it is to have common sense? Can common sense be taught?

Naps

Does anyone take naps anymore? Do kids? Do adults?

Naps are supposed to be good for us. It’s been awhile since I taken a nap but I’ll be honest after a big meal I always feel like taking one.

Do you take naps? Do your kids?

Maybe I should take a nap more often. If I can’t fall asleep I’ll just turn it to an Adam Sandler movie.

Gorgeous

Well, I wasn’t hoping to end my “babbling” article with anything corny but …

Rose recently did write a JU Writing Challenge article about her conversation with the bathroom mirror and how she doesn’t like what she sees sometimes.

I just want her and everyone else here to know I still think she’s as gorgeous as ever.

She must be blind to not see how beautiful she truly is … well her blindness could explain why she’s with me.

Like Intelligence, I dont think Common sense can be taught. It can be learned, but usually you either got it or you do not (I am in the latter group).

About once in a blue moon I get one - I guess that is why I love them so much!

Balloon

Never tried it and have never had the desire to do so. I love heights but hat air balloon rides are kinda scary considering you are at the winds mercy as oppose to a chopper who, while also at the winds mercy, is more controllable. Just my thoughts on balloon rides.

Anniversary

I lost track of mine since the system has never been able to tell me my exact tade I joined. When I first joined it said I had joined since more than a year before. I thought that was weird. Anyway, congrats on being on JU for so long. Great place, isn’t it?

Breaking Bad

Never heard of it. And would definitely avoid DrGuy after he eats beans. I wouldn’t mind having a TiVo, but that would mean I have to pay for cable/satellite service, can’t afford it right now. Oh well.

Lemonade

Oh I could go for some right about now but the closest thing right now to me is that Crystal Light thing you put in a bottle of water. Guess I’ll have to settle for now. Thanks to you now I see myself going to the store to get some lemons. Thanks a lot. LOL. I wonder how quick the Govt would shut us down if I put my kids to sell lemonade on the sidewalk. Then again I’d be more fearful of someone stealing their money or worse, kidnapping them.

I take one once in a while on the weekends but with my kids home, it’s kinda pointless. Also I don’t like it much cause I end up sleeping more than I should then I go to sleep late at night. Besides, I’ll wait till I retie and take all the naps I want.

Gorgeous

Hah, I gave up on that long time ago. Some women wouldn’t believe they are gorgeous if Playboy gave them a photo shoot. It’s cool you still think your wife is gorgeous, I hope she knows you think that way. Women don’t always appreciate us guys.

I like naps. I find myself not doing them right now since I am not working. Once I head back to work later this summer, though, I think the habit will return. Maybe I wouldn't need them if I got enough sleep, though. I find myself napping several times a week during my work week.

I hate that some people look down on them, though (I have co-workers who think naps are for lazy people. They don't use the exact word "lazy", but they might as well. Maybe they're just ....jealous of us nappers...lol.

Common sense....can it be taught? Maybe, from the baby stages, it has to be developed if it is not easily acquired! But your analysis is correct! [some smart people with degrees don't have it!]

My daughter used to take naps, up to her last few days in kindergarten, not anymore! She's not a baby she tells me! That put me in my place!LOL!

Oh I love anything with Bryan Cranston! He's such a good character actor! I loved, love Malcolm in the Middle! Cracks me up everytime and I enjoy the reruns! I would love to go up in a hot air balloon, but get scared of heights. I've never been in a chopper but I don't think I'd have a problem with that, just so long as I concentrated on looking ahead and not down. But this would defeat the purpose, wouldn't it?

I'm going to have to keep a look out for 'Breaking Bad'. It sounds great.

I agree with you about intelligence and common sense. I believe common sense can be taught, to a certain extent. It reminds me of a quote by someone: "There is only one thing more painful than learning from experience and that is not learning from experience." I think common sense is the ability to learn from experience and mistakes and move forward. Those who don't, regardless of their degrees or whatever, will never be smart, as far as I'm concerned.

I'm a big fan of naps but rarely take them anymore. To be honest, I have so much energy these days, I just don't feel the need.

I don't have any desire to ride in a hot air balloon. I mean, think about it...its a friggin balloon! hahahah

I don't nap unless I'm sick or my thyroid medication needs tinkered...in fact, that is one of my warning signs...napping.

Common sense...all I can say is, sometimes I feel like a nut, sometimes I don't. heh. My husband swears I am missing the common sense gene when it comes to things like safety.....but I'm learning.

It is weird. But maybe you're counting the exact date as the date you wrote your first article and JU counts it as the date you first signed up.

I have drawn a few logos so far. I hoping to get around 10 or so before I send them off. My first attempts were very corporate-like.
