You can't get bored in the early game like you can with Civilization. So much to do and the game keeps moving whether or not you do.

"Tum tee tum tee tum...ooo, an ice planet. Hey, look, pirates. Maybe I'll take a break...right after I upgrade my new planet's infrastructure. PING! Oh, look, my research finished. Aha, the first trade station is up...look at all the shiny credits flowing in! Now I can start researching Heavy Crusiers..."
