well funny tho (i feel another argument) keyes out ran torpedos before
Where would we be without our arguments? As for the torpedo's chasing Keyes' ship, it's only because he managed to evade them and they had to turn about. Not to mention he was using a destroyer, a ship the size of a frigate, which I said would be about the largest ship capable of evading plasma torpedos. So his entire trick is perfectly valid, even given the plasma torpedo's speed and maneuverability.
But the fact that only he managed to do it, and only managed to do it once, kinda says something. In nearly 30 years of war, only a single ship managed to avoid plasma torpedos in such a fashion? Such a one-time incident hardly deserves to be made into an ability. Even crews who had fought for years never did it, Keyes got lucky. Lucky he had a skilled crew, and generally just lucky.
To stay true to the Halo atmosphere, and to keep every single Marathon from magicly evading plasma torpedo's, once a ship gets targeted by a plasma torp, it should be as good as dead. The only counter should be the destruction of the fireing ship. After all the UNSC are suppose to be the under-dogs, they're suppose to be outgunned. That's why their ships are cheap and build fast. Allowing them to negate the Covies superior firepower destroys the whole balance of things.
Not to mention, if you give the damage sponges of the fleet (The refit ship and Halcyon) the agro ability (Forget what it's called.) then they can just have all the plasma torps sent after them, giving the weaker ships time to destroy the covie ship. That's two counters against plasma torps without making every single ship captained by a hero, with a hero shield.
