Pre-Beta 2 Teaser Shot

Later this week we'll be announcing the details for Sins of a Solar Empire Beta 2, due out later this month. In the meantime, we wanted to share this new in-game screenshot for one of the latest TEC frigates that testers will be able to use soon.

2 words..... Missile Frigate.

You will also notice the 3 letters on the top, LRM .... Long Range Missiles.....

The machines of war start turning.... Gears of war and or Widgets of war , would sound better!

Hehe yes, I'll grant you that. It does look FINE enough! I've gone mad waiting for this game, though. Gameplay is amazing and given we have a small chance of influence it during it's being built is a sure way of making a game the gamers like!

Huba Huba! That is by far (in my opinion) the coolest looking TEC ship so far.


i'd rather say , its the coolest looking frigate so far......

capital ship wise, i'd say the marza dreadnought is the best ......

I think it looks pretty good. except that the rocket pods look a little corny

and the planet is dark! why is it dark? it looks like its nighttime (so cool!!!) !!!
and even the background is dark (more stars, super awesome)

i so agree with you there

and where did the blue, orange, green and so on, skybox's go?

Yeah, I agree with you there. But I like the Advent capital ships the best (one kinda looks like an eagle), from what I've seen.

Prolly is the side of the planet thats facing away from the sun (AKA night time). I've played in the dark galaxys before (the galaxys are different colors sometimes, I've played in the dark ones, but there weren't as many stars).

I remember Blair or someone else say, that, when the part of a planet goes to nighttime, there will be lights turning on

ooh, yeah, just started the game to see.
Its actualy there. I had the idea there would be more white lights. But then again, its from space, so it shouldnt be easy to see.

Finaly some progress. One more step towards more arguing

More like one step backward to pre-beta, only with more peoples and more features factor.

I spy at least 3 stuff that wasn't in beta-one in this picture in add to the LRM Frigate itself. They are the object behind the blue lighting field nw corner that look similar to a squid. Light effect around the crystal on rock in the background. Two "UFO" between the squid object and the rocks and planet. I don't know if this weird light of bright white dot on the rock is new effect of light or whatever.

query:
how big are frigates supposed to be? is each little bright-square supposed to be a window? or are there no such portals and the thing is actually much smaller than it appears to suggest?

Frigates in the Sins universe are manned by substantial crews and are therefore not small. That particular frigate is about 210m in length. For comparison, a TEC fighter is about 14m in length (slightly smaller than an X-wing and crewed by 1 man), the Scout Frigate is about 120m in length and the Marza Dreadnaught is over 600m in length.

Hehe I'm so excited. I've built myself a new system and I'm ready to play some Beta 2! (and before you ask schem it was with my own money from working two years at my summer job.)

Not to knock Beta 1, but I'm SO ready for new content. Especially new music. I've heard every track in Beta 1 so many times now, I hear them in my sleep.
