Custom Made Pens - Christmas Idea?

I just discovered this guy. He makes custom made pens from wood and acrylics. They are beautiful one of a kind pens and could make a great Christmas gift for someone. He states that the pens are made individually without the use of duplicators, which makes each one unique.

I found one style that I especially like and have already emailed him to inquire about it. It can be my Christmas gift to myself. For a custom made pen, the prices are quite reasonable.

They're pretty. I went to a craft show this weekend and saw a couple of booths with these items. They also made them from deer horn. So many men are so hard to buy for, I think this is a good idea.

Those are some lovely pens.  I personally have asked for a fountain pen for Christmas.  I learned to write with one and just like the way my handwriting looks when I use a nib.  I've also asked for a new leather bound journal so I can put the fountain pen to good use!

They are great, Mason, and yes, a great gift idea too.

One of the first cyberbuddies I got to meet in person makes them too. She gave me one as a gift, it is the first pen I reach for now.

Ok, I ordered a pen from this gentleman. He doesn't have a direct order system on his website. He prefers to do business via email and make it more personal. He's very nice and answers all questions asked very promptly.

He accepts PayPal, checks, and money orders. I made payment to him via PayPal (first time I've ever used it). I am paying more for USPS Priority shipping as I would like to have the pen before I leave back out on the road, but the original normal shipping was only $5 so he isn't gouging anyone there.

Hopefully the pen will arrive on Saturday and I can report on the quality first hand.

That's a gorgeous pen, Mason. It looks like it's pretty ergonomically designed too - I have troubles writing with skinny pens because of my arthritis, so any pen that's fatter where you grip it at is perfect for me.

Please do let us know how the quality is and how it writes. If it's everything you expect, I might just point Dave in the direction of that website. His fountain pens look just gorgeous.

I have the same issue with skinny pens. The pen I ordered uses Cross refills so I am sure that it will perform well.

I like his fountain pens as well. Fountains are my favorite writing tool, but I need ball point for work so this one is more practical for me.

I used to have a wood lathe but i never made any pens. Made a few lamps though and out of mesquite! They were beatiful

I like mesquite. I have a very nice hiking staff made from mesquite. It's attractive, strong, and light weight.

The only problem is it's damn near impossible to find a straight piece of it! And it is an extrememly hard wood too.

And there's no better wood in the world to grill and BBQ with!

My pen arrived this morning as promised. I have to say that Matthew provides excellent personal service and his work is beautiful.

The fit and finish of the pen are perfect and it writes like a dream. It's a true functional piece of art. I couldn't be more pleased with it.
