EEEK!!!!

I don't mind spiders when they're living outside. I don't mind watching them spin their webs; I'll even go and watch them work and admire the finished results.

But what is guaranteed to give me the willies and make me run away shrieking is a decent sized spider in the house. When I was pregnant with our 12 year old, my husband and I found a hunter spider the size of a bread plate crawling down the side of our couch (we lived in the UK at the time and had the screenles windows open. The spider lived in the rose bushes outside the window and decided to come in and introduce himself, apparently) and spent half an hour arguing over who should kill it. In the end, I sprayed it with AquaNet and he hit it with a shoe to make sure it was dead. I swear that's why our son had hair when he was born.

So anyway, I don't like spiders much. All my kids know this, yet they still do stupid things like bring spiders into the house to show me - like my 12 year old son just did. He's got 2 big Wolf spiders in a tupperware container and he shoved it right under my nose to show me. I squealed like a little girl and almost kicked the coffee table over trying to get away from them.

Now I've got the willies to accompany my nausea. Great.

Aren't boys fun. I'm the same way. I have no problem with them outside. If they come in the house, we have a problem. My husband will capture and release but I spray or squash.

Aqua Net used to be my bug killer of choice too! In fact, I never used it on my hair. Just bugs. It works like a charm.

I don't like spiders either. But I'm worse than you I think. I can't even bear to see one -- you know the way their legs move one at a time when they're walking -- the mere thought of it makes my skin crawl. And I can't even bear to see them spin their webs. They are beautiful creatures, and their webs are beautiful, but I just can't get past how much they give me the creeps.

Now your son is keeping some spider wolf pets? EEEEK indeed!!!!!!! Here I was feeling safe in my little world, keeping my distance from anything that gives me the heebie jeebies...then you painted a picture in my mind that my son might grow up to bring spiders into the house. I think I'd have to make him move out. Hehe.

When we lived at RAF Wyton, we had wooden slatted privacy fences in the back yard that were just havens for spiders. Dave used to go out there with a can of AquaNet and a lighter and make himself a blowtorch to burn up all the spiders and their webs.

Me too. I'm ok when they're still, but when they move....*shudder* . Gives me the heebie-jeebies. And to think, we used to have a tarantula as a pet.

He released them. I MADE him. Told him I'd start taking his PS2 time away unless he let them go. That helped him see the error of his ways.
