Coca-Cola Blak - my opinion

I had my first taste of Coca-Cola Blak today.

It tastes like what it says it is - a mix of cola and coffee. It's like drinking a carbonated frappucino that's had a squirt of Coke syrup in it. It's okay; I'd be happy to drink it every so often - but it's not going to be replacing the Coca-Cola Classic in my refrigerator.

I think it's a gimmick; a product that will sell well at first because people are curious about it. But, I can't see it being a long-term success.

Then again, I could be wrong. After all I never thought those Starbucks Frappucino in the little bottles at the grocery store would sell well, and they've been going strong for years now.

I don't like them either.

I've never had it, but it sounds gross. I like my coke, and I like my coffee, but together? not too sure about that one. I will have to buy a bottle though, before passing a final judgment.

That's what I said too. I wrote an article about this product when I first heard about it, so I figured I should write about my experience tasting it.

It's still sitting in my fridge, 3/4 of the way full. Maybe I'll substitute it for my coffee tomorrow morning and see how that goes down.

I don't know that I'll even try it. Doesn't sound like my cup of... whatever.

I had only recently decided to like coffee before I moved, and that was really just froo-froo cappucino and such. This might be sweet enough for me, but... I'll just stick to sucking down the liter of Coke in front of me (and I'll be paying for that tomorrow, I'm certain).

Also, Diet Dr. Pepper. I'm sure it had nothing on Diet Dr. Pepper.

I saw that in the store the other day. I dont think a company introduces a product for the initial kick. When you think of the ramp up costs, it usually takes some time before it breaks even. But who knows?

Maybe it will be like New Coke.

Saw a bottle of the new "Blak" at a convenience store yesterday when I took a walk to get myself a nice bottle of Coke Classic. I was briefly tempted to try it, but the price was so high for such a small bottle that I decided to stick with the regular coke.

May walk up there from my apartment tonight after work and give it a try though... I'm intrigued.

I like Coke and I like coffee, but I don't think I'll like them together. I also don't like iced coffee. Coke is my cold caffeine and coffee is my hot caffeine. They really shouldn't be mixed.

Eh, I'm always looking for new ways to feed my caffiene addiction

I still want to try my ultimate coffee death drink idea:

1. Brew pot of coffee using caffinated water (Water Joe for example)
2. Cook the coffee down a bit to get rid of that silly water that dilutes the caffiene.
3. Use the reduced coffee as the fluid in an espresso machine and brew a double shot.
4. Drink doubleshot.
5. Have heart attack and die.

Nah...I think I could handle it. Of course, they also gave me caffeine in my IV after my last operation so that I wouldn't go through withdrawal, so I might not be the "norm".....

BTW, caffeinated water makes awful coffee. You might as well just take a couple no-doze with a triple shot and save yourself the hassle.

Oh, I'm not thinking of this from a "mmm, tastes good" perspective... I'm trying to come up with the highest concentration of caffiene possible in a beverage

And over lunch I grabbed a bottle of the Blak stuff. Not terrible, kinda liked the odd taste to it. Not sure I like it enough to pay the horrible price per tiny bottle, but I'll probably pick it up again from time to time. Won't replace my standard coke either.

I used to drink frappuccinos for one reason: 45 mile commute and no desire to stop for coffee. I suspect a lot of other commuters had the same idea.

As for Coca Cola Blak, it should have the same novelty appeal as Jolt Cola once did

That is funny. Hope you don't mind me correcting you but that drink is actually from a company from Spain and is partly produced here in Puerto Rico as well. I actually like maltas. Goya is OK but Malta India is better. You do have to have an aquired taste for it though. It's like a cross between cheap soda, chocolate ice cream and beer. I can only drink it once or twice a week at most.

I have yet to see that new Coke here in Puerto Rico. I am a big fan of Coke and I have tried just about every mix they have come out with and have not yet been disappointed. Oh how I loved that Vanilla Coke. Look foward to trying it though it seems that some have mentioned it's small and expensive.

I use to drink Cuban coffee or as it's called expresso. I never imagined presure filturing water thru coffee to get what would seem like evaporated coffee and with one drink would make you go faster than roadrunner, imagine drinking 10 of those small shots a day.

I don't know if I could stomach it right now, but it sounds interesting. My mom said it was only like 40 calories/serving but the 2nd ingredient is high fructose corn syrup. How does THAT work?

I'm really interested in the Dr.Pepper Berries and Cream. Adrian says they must be marketing to pregnant women.

I throw up Dr.Pepper though, so I don't know if I can do it or not. Depends on the Dr.Pepper to Berry to Cream ratio, I suppose.

It's not too bad (I only tried it because it's cheaper than regular DP while they're marketing it), but I still prefer my regular DP.

That's what travel mugs are for- make coffee at home and enjoy it during the drive.

I use to drink Cuban coffee or as it's called expresso.

Espresso isn't typically mixed with a sugar paste or "shot" like cuban coffee, though. Modern day espresso is also much different than the stovetop models used for cuban coffee.

I love coffee.....

Sorry. It was the Vanilla Cappucino at 7-11 or the Cafe Mocha at either Starbucks or the BeanTree Express.

Guess this is just one more way I've been emasculated, eh?
